January 30, 2003 - Degel Software Ltd. (www.degel.com), an Israeli company, has
successfully developed an easy-to-use joystick-driven wizard style
interface implementation for BugMe! (www.electricpocket.com/series60/),
the popular multi-media reminder program, for Nokia's Series 60
Platform. BugMe!'s has been extremely popular with Palm OS and Pocket PC
users. Degel's top-notch staff of programmers have successfully combined
photograph, text, and voice message reminders with an alarm system using
an ingenious design for the Nokia 7650.
"In the international arena, Degel has a solid reputation and we found
them to be a terrific partner - throughout the entire project and, most
importantly, with the quality of the final product, " said Iain Barclay,
Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of the U.K.-based Electric Pocket (www.electricpocket.com),
Ltd., which produces the application. "BugMe! is our flagship product and
Series 60 is of enormous strategic importance to us. It was vital to have
a partner who understood our product and our business, and we found that
in Degel Software."
"Working on BugMe! is an important step for us in conquering the
international markets," says Degel Founder and President David Goldfarb.
"The background experience of each member of our team, our commitment to
quality and excellence, and the individualized attention we give each
client have enabled us to work for some of the most renowned high-tech
companies over the past few years."
BugMe! is a straightforward note-taker and memory jotter, for both
personal and professional users. Degel's Series 60 implementation
combines the power of multimedia with the immediacy of your palm, with
the ability to include photographs and audio clips. Users range from a
homemaker recording a grocery list to an attorney verbally recording a
legal argument to be transcribed later. "BugMe! is a wonderful way to
organize your life," says Goldfarb. "If I am going to be out of hearing
range of an oven timer, for example, I can simply photograph the chicken
in the oven and click on 'twenty minutes'. When the alarm rings, the
photo of the chicken in the oven appears on my screen, and I am reminded
to turn off the oven before dinner burns."
Degel successfully moved BugMe! from the Palm's stylus-based interface
and redesigned it to fit the Series 60 Platform. On the Palm, BugMe! uses
the stylus to create hand-written digital ink. For Series 60, the camera,
the voice recorder, the contact list, and the phone capability are used
as "unforgettable" reminders "We realized that the appeal of BugMe! was
the ability to make a reminder quickly and avoid the problem of
time-consuming textual input," explained Andy Weinstein, Senior
Applications Analyst and Software Engineer. "BugMe! is fun, it's fast,
it's effective, and it makes users feel that they are getting the most
out of the device."
